Software Architect (RMS)

What you’ll be doing

As a software architect you will be leading software architectural activities whilst offering software support to business development activities. You will be involved in customer and supplier facing activities and will play a role in the long-term technical and strategic vision of the company. 

Day to day duties will involve:

-Taking ownership of enterprise-wide initiatives and planning, documenting, implementing and maintaining software solutions.
-Leading complex software design activities.
-Performing effectively in fast-changing environments, whilst providing stability in a dynamic team.
-Leading the design and documentation of the software development and integration processes.
-Influencing and shaping the design of complex systems, including ensuring that software architecture supports accreditation against safety.
-Proactively setting the direction for us of new technologies and tools and developing roadmaps which have the support of relevant stakeholders.
-Liaising with other engineering disciplinaries to ensure a joined-up approach to program challenges.

Essential skills:

-Extensive experience of software design, development and assurance across the whole software lifecycle, including agile, waterfall and hybrid frameworks.
-Clear and concise communication and presentation skills
-Ability to work with all levels of engineering, programme management and leadership.
-Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards (safety integrity levels, RTCA DO-178, Military EMC, Environmental) and other Airborne and Maritime standards.

Desirable:
-Experience with any of these languages: ADA 95, C/C++ or C#
-Software / System modelling  methodologies e.g. UML
