Job Purpose;
The Commissioning Manager leads a commissioning team in the testing and commissioning of facilities, equipment & plant. The team works to bring the product or system to a point where it functions correctly, produces expected results (for quality, safety, specification and performance), can be used effectively and is approved for ‘hand over’ or return to production or operations for ongoing effective use as designed and specified.
At this level, the Commissioning Manager leads a team of commissioning engineers, ensures the team is technically competent, developed, deployed and fully capable of delivering the work required of the team, co-ordinates testing and commissioning activities and provides advice on testing and commissioning procedures and documentation.
Key Responsibilities;
This role has full managerial control and accountability for a Commissioning team. The role is accountable for the delivery of a professional service to meet key performance indicators (KPI’s), service level agreements (SLA’s), targets and objectives for the team. The focus of the role is typically on achievement of quarterly and annual outcomes and targets.
The role must be fully aware of and adhere to Health & Safety standards and be fully familiar with all authorised documentation, Good Practice Guides and ISO standards.
Ensure effective management of a team to ensure timely & efficient delivery of engineering work to meet customer agreed scope
Ensure effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid the development of business, resolution of technical and delivery issues, and such that the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress
Ensure the safe testing and commissioning of plant, equipment and installations to verify performance in accordance with project & programme requirements, technical and user specifications specified commissioning requirements and procedures
Identify problems and shortcomings with existing plant, equipment & systems, document, provide advice, guidance and report shortcomings to line management or stakeholders
Investigate, diagnose and research problems & issues, gather information from a range of physical & informational sources, review defects to gain a complete understanding of problems and relevant circumstances
Analyse problems related to plant and support system issues, generate & submit solutions complete with all documentation and seek appropriate signatures & approvals as required
Monitor progress, record test results, witness final testing and acceptance of equipment consistent with design, performance, safety, quality and technical specifications.
Collate, compile and format all technical and operational documentation for inclusion in the test dossier and for hand over to customer or stakeholders

Experience/Qualifications/Skills;
Nuclear or other highly regulated industries
Field EC&I commissioning
Commissioning in a contracting EPC environment
Process control systems and equipment
Electrical and instrumentation systems
Working within a certified quality management system.
Process related industry.
HNC/HND/Apprentice time served Electrical/ Control/ Instrument or Automation Engineering
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
ECS Black or Gold Card, CSCS or CCNSG 3 day card
Supervisory experience of subcontractors.
Adjusting and calibrating instruments
Point to point and loop testing skills
