Essential Skills: 

Powertrain/Engine/Motors/Transmission/EV Component/Rotating Machinery/F1 or Motorsport design background; CATIA V5/V6; Full life cycle design engineer; In-depth understanding of Concept design to production processes; strong Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing skills  

I’m working with an industry-leading automotive company who are in need of a contract Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team working on Formula 1 powertrain projects. 

You’ll be expected to:

• Convert your creative, innovative ideas into hardware that will make a difference at the race track, within weeks of being conceived
• Create and validate novel engineering design solutions, supported by right first time principles and analysis, that meet demanding performance and cost targets
• Create robust and versatile models to demonstrate concepts, in both solids and surfaces, with engineering drawings to complement design release
• Solve complex problems and analyse failures
• Write test requests, review results, and write technical reports

Essential Requirements:

• Experience of 3D CAD design software  CATIA), and key simulation/analysis packages 
• Experience in designing highly loaded mechanical components & system
• Background in an engineering led, challenging, mechanical engineering position
• FEA & hand calculations experience
