Will need to work in office regularly to access IT systems at SECRET level.
Based in BTC in Bristol – Steady state 3-5 days per week onsite every week
The Strategic Programming Team
Babcock has committed to developing a Strategic Long-Term Plan (SLTP) in response to the UK’s requirement for submarine maintenance and disposal.
Babcock SSE is leading the development and delivery of the SLTP and a supporting resource loaded plan schedule in Primavera P6. The advertised role will work across the business to develop technical approaches to schedule integration and develop portfolio level plans that are validated and analysed for their coherence and delivery health. These plans will be delivered as a joint and aligned plan with the client.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced planning and scheduling specialist that has both the capability to design P6 technical concepts for large complex portfolios and who thrives on working across large communities of stakeholder to establish and bring coherence to plans. The incumbent must have the skills to proactively engage, facilitate and collaborate with internal business functions and client stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
The incumbent shall be outcome focused and will be expected to take accountability for validating others’ schedules that form the portfolio views. By developing suitable frameworks, they will be expected to analyse the portfolio plan and present the delivery performance, risks and issues impacting coherence and alignment of the plan to executive stakeholders. They will be expected to clearly articulate strategic decision and actions required to establish and maintain coherence and alignment of the portfolio.
What you will be doing
The successful candidate will lead developing a portfolio plan for the business including:
o Proactive leadership of stakeholder engagement and facilitation across the business and client organisation to ensure organisation collaboration and coherence on plans.
o Developing a knowledge of submarine maintenance and disposal business operations and using this to intelligently develop the portfolio plan and understand the plans across the business.
o Work with the central planning and scheduling team to provide leadership across the business to develop the vision, concept, and frameworks for integrated planning and P6 scheduling
o Proactively form relationships and support projects and programmes across the business to develop their plans in a way that supports integration and the creation of integrated portfolio views across the business
o Develop and maintain P6 portfolio views of Babcock’s supply programme aligned to the client’s boat maintenance demand and undertake the analysis and report the conclusions on alignment between supply and demand and risk to the programme.
o Provide senior management and projects with the key decisions and actions required to align and deliver supply against the changing demand.
o Planning to include infrastructure, capability, people, technology, and other aspects of delivery that encompass Babcock’s outputs.
o Develop Portfolio WBS/OBS and P6 Primera schedules where the supply programme requires, and project/programme level plans are not yet in place
o Ensure alignment between the integrated scheduling and the companies financial and material demand toolset.
o Develop and maintain reporting metrics and information on the health of business delivery of the supply plan and impact against demand.
o Resource/cost loaded schedules working with Babcock Strategic Workforce Planning team, Business Units Integrated Business Planning (IBP) teams and finance community.
o Work closely with the internal SLTP modelling team and finance and resource lead to ensure the plan is aligned to their outputs and vice versa.

How you will work
Due to the need to work closely with the customer and on SECRET IT networks based in Bristol, the incumbent will be expected to work primarily out of North or South Bristol, eventually North Bristol only. This would as a minimum be 3/4 days a week in office. Candidates may be required to travel to Devonport, Clyde, and Rosyth occasionally to liaise with dockyard waterfront teams.
Candidate will need to be SC Cleared British Nationals who will be given access to data at a high level of classification.
