Principle Software Engineer, Greater Manchester (Hybrid Remote), up to £70,000
Do you want to develop cutting edge Instrument Control Software for an industry leading electronics development team?.
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will support the selection and evaluation of key strategic technologies and design patterns that will enable efficient and aligned delivery of the product roadmap.
You will assist in the development of the technical roadmap by objectively assessing design options, developing, prototyping and proving the design concepts that will enable our instrument control portfolio delivery.

Main responsibilities:
Develop detailed design proposals against the key strategic technologies selected by the Architect’s team.
Complete evaluations, prototypes and proof of concept studies to demonstrate the viability and practicality of design concepts.
Liase with the Chief Engineers and delivery teams to ensure that key strategic technologies can be made available to support delivery of the product roadmap when required.
Liase with the Chief Engineers and delivery teams to ensure the technical roadmap is being delivered – and problems found in implementation are swiftly resolved.
De-Risk and accelerate delivery projects by ensuring that:
Key strategic technologies and design choices are well developed and well shaken down before they are put into the project delivery pipeline.
Key strategic technology choices are well placed to be able to support and accelerate multiple projects and products on the company’s roadmap
Skills required:
Strong knowledge of Linked Data (LOD)
Linux operating system and networking.
Proven background of developing complex semi-embedded systems.
Passionate about software development which you can clearly convey by your actions and experiences
All-round software engineering knowledge and experience – encompassing (and not limited to):
- IP Networking
- Modern web technologies
- Web servers, forward and reverse proxies
- Websockets.
