EC&I Engineer (night shift) / Nuclear Defence / Berkshire / 12 months
Client – Cavendish Nuclear / Babcock
Rate – Up to 71.66 per hour (Umbrella)
Shift Pattern – NIGHT SHIFTS
Per Diem – £100 per day (location dependent – 30 miles plus)
Bonus – £5 per hour retention bonus – to be paid at the end of the project
IR35 Status – INSIDE IR35
Hours per Week – Average 66 hours – 11 days on 3 days off
Contract Length – 12 month Contract
Location – Reading, Berkshire
Security Clearance Required – Ideally active SC Security Clearance but client will sponsor
Job Purpose:
Our client, a key player in the nuclear defence industry located in Berkshire, UK, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
At this level; an experienced engineer, is competent in a generalist subject area (EC&I), resolves specific technical issues and problems, compiles technical reports and accompanying presentations, provides, reviews and adheres to specifications in accordance with stakeholder requirements
Key Responsibilities:
As an EC&I Engineer, you will be an integral part of our engineering team and play a crucial role in delivering high-quality products and services to our stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:
- Applying engineering domain knowledge to provide technical solutions and contribute to problem-solving in the EC&I field.
- Working on a range of engineering problems, including some with complexity, and resolving them independently or with occasional supervision.
- Adhering to Health & Safety standards and ensuring compliance with authorized documentation, Good Practice Guides, and ISO standards.
- Promoting effective cooperation across engineering and other functional teams.
- Assisting in customer management by interfacing with customers and the supply chain on design issues and procurement specifications.
- Ensuring the correct application of procedures, codes, and standards in engineering and technical activities.
- Communicating task and project risks effectively.
- Contributing to the Product Safety Assessment process.
- Providing a technical interface with internal and external stakeholders at a detailed level.
- Conducting technical investigations and analyses to support problem assessment, resolution, and design improvements.
- Contributing to process improvement efforts to enhance quality, cycle time, and asset utilization.
- Producing, reviewing, and verifying technical outputs, including calculations, analyses, reports, specifications, and method statements.
- Planning, delivering, and monitoring assigned tasks and projects to meet time, quality, and cost requirements.
- Providing guidance and support to less experienced team members.
- Assisting the Project Manager in planning, controlling, and delivering tasks and projects.
- Making engineering decisions within your sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
- Acting as a Technical Authority or Engineering Lead when authorized.
- Upholding the highest standards for health and safety in your area of responsibility and ensuring team members’ compliance with company standards.
- Keeping up-to-date with relevant technical areas and promoting a culture of engineering best practice.
- Contributing to learning from experience (LfE) requirements during and post-projects.
- Supporting business development efforts by raising the company’s profile through presentations, academic links, conferences, technical papers, and identifying new work opportunities.
- Prioritizing health, safety, and environmental standards, adhering to company policies and procedures, and contributing to tender requirements and estimates.
Experience/Qualifications/Skills:
Essential:
- Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant engineering discipline, with significant demonstrable experience.
- Experience collaborating in multi-discipline teams on various project types.
- Demonstrable experience covering a variety of tasks.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with other disciplines.
Desirable:
- Chartered Status or actively working toward Chartered Status.
- Membership in a relevant institute or significant demonstrable engineering experience with the capability of registration with the Engineering Council.
- Experience in managing engineering scope for projects from concept design to full Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC).
- Breadth and depth of experience in a range of commercial or defence projects.
