Rate – Circa £70.00 per hour Umbrella Co
Duration – 12 Months + possible extensions
Hours – Typically 38 hours per week
Determination – Inside IR35
Security – UK BPSS Security Clearance to be in place
Location – Remote / Devonport, Plymouth UK – (On site 2/3 days per week)

Primary Purpose;
The purpose of the post is:
To assist the Discipline Lead in delivery of the Electrical engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost.
Responsible for managing the technical deliverables of the Electrical services engineering packages in line with the planned deliverables agreed by the Discipline Lead.
The post operates as part of the Major Infrastructure Projects Business Unit.
Principal Tasks and Responsibilities;
Within SQEP profile, preparing and/or checking designs, analyses, reports, drawings, specifications and other documents in support of Nuclear and Non-Nuclear related plant, facility and equipment within the company’s licensed, authorised and operational sites, or in support of external contracts.
Participate in the problem solving for development of technical solutions to deficiencies or in the development of new designs.
Support the review and sentencing of new designs, methodology of construction and temporary works submitted to the Technical Authority.
Supporting planning of activities, with respect to task durations, level of effort and estimated costs, through to provision of design deliverables with regular schedule reviews and progress reporting, utilising Earned Value Management methodologies, and construction support.
Make effective use of Learn from Experience information to develop and disseminate theoretical knowledge in relation to practical engineering and to maintain a record of development to substantiate the skills achieved.
Support development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of Facilities to ensure that they comply with the design intent and DNSP’s for Nuclear related Works, together with all relevant Local and National Regulations and Legislation.
Support the on-site inspection of DRDL assets for their construction, maintenance and modification.
Maintain familiarity with DRDL procedures used within Facilities Engineering.
Interfacing Responsibilities;
Operations & Integration Lead – communication of operational capabilities for systems to ensure that the overall operational concept meets the high level capability requirements of the Facility
Safety Case Engineers – to communicate design specification enabling justification and fulfilment of any associated Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs).
Project / Package Manager – to communicate on project deliverables to scope, schedule and cost. Raise any technical issues that may have an effect on overall project delivery.
User Acceptance Group (UAG) – demonstration that the designed systems will meet the functional User Requirements.
Design Authority (DA) – to advise on technical governance aspects of deliverables to ensure that quality is of required standard.
Engineering Services Technical Authority (ES TA) – to obtain information on current systems, learning from experience, dockyard best practice etc.
Plant Managers & Design and Safety Managers (as appropriate): to advise on the use of plant to accord with design intent.
Other Designers and Engineers from within Facilities Engineering and other MIP projects for design coordination across disciplines.
External suppliers, including Design House subcontractors: to ensure co-ordination and compliance with design intent as set by the Engineer responsible and for resolution of technical queries.
Develop & implement the Engineering Management Plan for packages within scope and ensure appropriate direction to ensure the delivery of technical requirements.
Undertake the planning, estimating and resource management of assigned projects.
Audit defined processes and activities within the Engineering Management Plan to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements;
Ideally Degree or HND in an appropriate engineering discipline;
Ideally Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council or working towards chartership.
Nuclear; – Nuclear Introductory Course or equivalent nuclear / marine system experience.
Local; – Design of electrical building services to include fire detection and alarm systems, industrial lighting and emergency lighting, site broadcast (PA) and HVAC.
Experience;
