Job Role (Overview, Team, Function)
We are looking for a highly-motivated and driven individual to join our unique and exciting Enabling One Devonport (EOD) team, as a Principal Scheduler. The role will form a key role within an energetic and diverse team working to challenging timescales to deliver one of the biggest transformation programmes in defence in the UK.
The Principal Scheduler will be responsible for supporting the planning of the EOD Programme. This includes facilitating the high level planning process through to building the project schedule and building the resource loading to allow the programme to be accurately costed. The Principal Scheduler will then provide ongoing schedule analysis and maintenance throughout the life cycle of the project.

Key Responsibilities (day to day duties)
Be the focal point and project lead on all matters relating to scheduling on the assigned project
Supporting the Project Manager with high level planning.
Supporting the Warships Scheduling Manager with the production of overarching reports and schedule related slides and pictures.
To create and maintain a single view “Plan on a page” Key Date Schedule (KDS) for assigned project.
Develop, maintain, monitor and control a project schedule for the relevant platform in Upkeep.
Liaise with the appropriate subject matter experts to ensure logical sequencing of activities within the schedule.
Support additional project planning initiatives such as dedicated 3rd level schedules and Critical Path Analysis.
Support production with workload planning (Look Ahead process) by rescheduling activities in a timely manner as deemed necessary.
Undertake proactive schedule analysis and scenario testing to understand most effective way of incorporating change/growth into the project.
Create option, baseline and mitigation plans to aid the decision making process – under own initiative and also by direction of higher project management (take the leave and arrange meetings to discuss).
Assist in the Schedule Risk Analysis process and outputs for the project.
Attend project, production and senior management progress meetings as required.
Act as the focal point for all project scheduling activities and functions.
Training others in scheduling techniques and project related activities as required.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the Warships Planning domain.
Adhere to best practice and comply with the Project Delivery Framework.
Where necessary, support business growth opportunities by providing outreach scheduling support.
Experience/Qualifications/Skills
Academic
Educated to ONC/OND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
Mandatory (or agreement to attain in 12 months)
APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
APM Project Planning & Controls – Practitioner
Earned Value Management Certification – Foundation
Desirable
NEC ECC Project Manager Accreditation (or equivalent)
APM Project Risk Management Single Subject Certification – Level 2
Project Risk Management Course
Candidate must be Proficient in
Primavera P6 Fundamentals
Primavera P6 Advanced
Primavera P6 qualifications such as Resourcing, or Risk
Microsoft Office (Word; Excel; Project; PowerPoint; Access; Outlook).
